JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Field Technician with tower climbing credentials to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring the successful installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our wireless network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a technical background, microwave installation experience, and potentially possess Layer 3 and IP certifications.

The Field Technician will be responsible for performing technical fieldwork related to overseeing installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our wireless network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, have tower climbing and rigging experience, and knowledge of microwave installation. The candidate may also possess Layer 3 and IP certifications to support network configuration and troubleshooting activities.

LOCATION: Plano, TX

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee microwave installation and alignment by subcontractors, while ensuring optimal performance and adherence to industry standards.

• Perform Bill of Material (BOM) validation, H/W inventory, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of network equipment (radios, antennas, routers, switches, and wireless devices)

• Conduct site surveys and deliver site survey reports while gathering technical requirements for network deployments and upgrades.

• Install, terminate, and test coaxial and fiber optic cables as per project specifications.

• Troubleshoot network issues and provide timely resolution, escalating complex problems as necessary.

• Perform testing and analysis of network performance, producing reports and recommendations for improvement in both Lab and Field environments.

• Develop Installation Method of Procedures (MOP) to support Field installation activities

• Perform the following activities with Tower climbing credentials: 

o Evaluating and/or overseeing construction subcontractors

o Performing installation QC inspections at height as required

o Perform occasional self-perform installation scopes as required

• Maintain accurate documentation of network installations, configurations, and changes.

• Review customer deliverables (Close-Out Packages) for quality assurance and co-develop as necessary

• Ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols while working on towers and other elevated structures.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, network engineers, and field technicians, to ensure project success and customer satisfaction through seamless integration of network equipment.

• Provide training and technical guidance to junior technicians and field personnel, as needed.




Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• HS diploma or GED

• 2-5+ years of proven experience in Telecom Site Surveys, Design, Microwave installation, alignment, configuration, and troubleshooting

• Strong understanding of networking protocols (L1& L2), routing, and IP addressing 

• Existing or prior Competent Climber/rescuer certification

• OSHA-10 certification required, OSHA-30 preferred

• Ability to travel minimum 25%


SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS

• Technical certification (e.g. CCNA) is a plus

• Demonstrated experience in tower climbing and rigging

• Layer 3 and IP certifications, such as CCNA or equivalent is a plus

• Ceragon or other MW product installation experience required. Siklu product installation is a plus.

• Strong working knowledge of network design and implementation

• Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) including direct interaction with customers

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with ability to work in a fast-paced environment

• Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities

• A commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry development

• Familiarity with SNMP, network monitoring tools, and performance analysis using iPERF for network optimization
