Home to more than 320,000 residents, Córdoba City Council required a connectivity solution capable of supporting the continued modernization and extension of its municipal communications network, with reliable, high-capacity links suited to the growing demands of digital public services. As municipal connectivity requirements evolve, the City Council needs infrastructure solutions that combine performance, availability and cost efficiency, while avoiding the need to deploy new fiber infrastructure in places it is not technically or economically justified.
Finding that balance—reach without heavy civil works and capacity without runaway cost—is what led Axians, as system integrator, to bring in Codipro to supply, install, and commission Ceragon IP-50EXP wireless backhaul links. Together, they brought robust, scalable communications infrastructure to the public sector, ready to meet Córdoba City Council's needs today and as its municipal network continues to grow.

Extend Municipal Network Coverage | Increase Backhaul Capacity | Increase Reliability | Reduce Cost Pressure
For a municipal communications network, availability and reliability are essential to supporting public services and day-to-day municipal operations. For Córdoba City Council, the project therefore required a technology capable of connecting locations several kilometers apart while providing sufficient capacity, reliable performance, and an efficient deployment model.
The proposed solution needed to address five concrete requirements:
Ceragon IP-50EXP | Long-Distance, Reliable E-band Links | Collaborative Partnership
For this deployment, Codipro proposed Ceragon’s IP-50EXP, an E-band backhaul solution designed to deliver multigigabit connectivity, long reach, and high availability in scenarios where network stability is critical. The IP-50EXP delivers up to 10 Gbps of capacity and 24 dBm of transmission power, enough to stretch smart city connectivity while maintaining reliable performance.
In collaboration with Axians, Codipro supplied, installed, and commissioned the four links, bringing years of expertise in microwave and millimeter wave link projects, wireless transport networks, and connectivity solutions for public and private environments.
Of note, the IP-50EXP's compatibility with Ceragon’s self-aligning stabilized antenna system also enables greater E-band distances to be achieved without giving up service quality, opening the door to additional high-demand municipal deployments.
José Luis Benítez, Business Manager, Codipro
Support for distances of more than 3 km with stable performance.
Up to 10 Gbps to support current and future network needs.
A solid foundation for public infrastructure that requires service continuity.
Simplified deployment and reduced installation complexity.
Easier power supply and equipment commissioning.
The ability for the network to grow in capacity and functionality.
Expanded City Council Network Reach | Higher Capacity | Very High Reliability | Scalable Municipal Connectivity
With four Ceragon IP-50EXP links, Córdoba City Council gained a more robust and stable wireless backhaul infrastructure, ready to support higher-capacity digital services.
The collaboration between Axians, Codipro, and Ceragon brings a high-performance solution to the municipal environment, addressing the main connectivity challenges faced by the public sector: greater reach, higher capacity, operational reliability, and economic sustainability.
Going forward, HRPT sees the potential of the network’s gigabit capacity as an opportunity to add more applications, such as connecting key card access systems throughout the park’s many locations. One thing is clear – with mmWave wireless solutions from Siklu by Ceragon, installed and supported by MMC, the Hudson River Park system is providing greater security for New Yorkers and tourists enjoying its green spaces.
Key outcomes include:
For Codipro, the project also represents a reference case in the deployment of Ceragon IP-50EXP solutions in public networks, reinforcing its role as a specialized technical partner for integrators, operators, and public administrations that need to execute complex connectivity projects with confidence.
Carmen Oria, Project Manager, Córdoba City Council
As Córdoba City Council's connectivity requirements continue to evolve, the wireless backhaul infrastructure deployed as part of this project provides additional flexibility to support future capacity and service needs. High-capacity wireless links complement the City Council's existing communications infrastructure, providing an efficient alternative for locations where distance, deployment complexity, or operational requirements make them particularly suitable.
This approach gives Córdoba City Council greater flexibility to select the most appropriate connectivity solution for each location, taking into account capacity, availability, deployment conditions and long-term sustainability.
For smart city connectivity planning, the implication is clear. Municipal networks need backhaul options that can match each route’s operational reality, including distance, cost, deployment complexity, and service-continuity requirements.
Córdoba City Council manages public services and municipal infrastructure for the City of Córdoba, Spain, serving a population of more than 320,000 residents. Its municipal communications infrastructure supports a wide range of systems and digital public services across different locations throughout the city.
As these requirements continue to evolve, the City Council combines different connectivity technologies according to the technical and operational needs of each location. The deployment of high-capacity wireless backhaul forms part of this approach, complementing the existing communications infrastructure and providing additional flexibility for the continued modernization and extension of the municipal network.
